Abode Joins EBALDC at Margaret Gordon West Port Opening in Oakland

Abode recently joined EBALDC and the Oakland community to celebrate the grand opening of Margaret Gordon West Port, which has added 58 units of affordable housing to the East Bay.

The 60-minute ceremony was held on June 27 at the housing site in West Oakland. A ribbon-cutting ceremony and site tours followed the program. Featured speakers included Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee, Alameda County Supervisor Nikki Fortunato Bas, and EBALDC Board Member David Peters. The event was emceed by Janelle Chan, CEO of EBALDC.

This affordable housing community has 58 units for individuals and families with 50% reserved for permanent supportive housing with on-site services provided by Abode Services.

Vivian Wan, CEO of Abode and its family of agencies, also spoke at the grand opening.

“Margaret Gordon WestPort will add nearly 60 units of much-needed affordable housing in West Oakland, providing homes to those in need and strengthening the East Bay community,” said Vivian Wan, CEO of Abode and its family of agencies. “The solution to homelessness is a home – which is one of many reasons why we’re thrilled to celebrate this new housing site with EBALDC and our other community partners.”
