Bay Area Furniture Bank
What We Do
Bay Area Furniture Bank (BAFB) was founded in 2016, with the mission to promote dignity and stability by redirecting donated furniture to families and individuals in need. It has since delivered more than 50,000 items of donated furniture to thousands of people in the counties of Santa Clara, San Mateo, and Alameda.
On July 1, 2026, BAFB officially joined Abode and its family of agencies. While BAFB has had a strategic alliance with Abode for years, this new merger deepens the partnership and allows both organizations to serve more people, more holistically, and with even greater impact. BAFB has ceased to be an independent, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, but the BAFB name will remain intact and now operate as a program within Abode. We’re excited for this next chapter, as our clients will benefit from more integrated services through Abode’s broader housing and support programs. Click here for more information about the BAFB-Abode merger.
The BAFB program will continue to support people in need by receiving donated, gently used furniture, or purchasing new items, and delivering them to participants, once they’ve been referred to us by our partner agencies. We accept recipients through a case manager referral only.

Please pay only the service fee amount provided by our staff after your donation has been reviewed and approved. This required fee offsets the costs of collecting and distributing donated furniture. Click here to complete that important step:

BAFB Clients
We often take furniture for granted, until we don’t have access to it. For our clients transitioning out of homelessness or displacement, furniture has a profound impact on their ability to live dignified and productive lives.
