A Fremont Family Celebration

We celebrated Affordable Housing Month at the recent grand opening of Fremont Family Apartments - which has added 54 new affordable homes to Alameda County. Abode Housing Development co-hosted the May 15 ceremony with Community of Christ, whose church leaders were instrumental in transforming an empty lot into the new housing development.

Fremont Family Apartments is Abode Housing Development's sixth housing community in the city of Fremont, which plans to build 560 new housing units in 2025.

Event speakers included Abode CEO Vivian Wan and Reshma Inamdar, an Abode board member who also served as emcee. Tiana, a Fremont Family Apartments resident, delivered a poignant speech that described how her new home at the affordable housing site had changed her life.

“I’m extremely thankful for the security we’ve been able to establish living here,” Tiana said. “From the first day we received our keys, my daughter and I both felt a sense of relief.
