We were thrilled to thank our generous supporters at Abode’s 2025 Donor Appreciation Night – a gathering we recently hosted in Fremont that featured great food, friends, and updates about our mission.

The evening’s speakers included Abode CEO Vivian Wan and Salustia, an Abode participant. Salustia delivered a moving speech about her years-long but ultimately triumphant attempt to find affordable housing – with Abode’s help. She spoke in Spanish, while Abode Resident Services Manager Amparo Contreras translated the speech in English.

“Now I can focus on taking care of my health and my family, and enjoying my golden years with dignity,” Salustia said in Spanish before her words were translated. “This is the perfect place for me to do that. It’s so peaceful and safe here. I am so happy and so grateful.”

The Sept. 18 event was held at Doug Ford Senior Apartments, a supportive housing site Abode developed for low-income individuals and households age 55 years or older.

Vivian Wan, CEO of Abode and its family of agencies, also spoke at the gathering, where she shared updates about our recent challenges and achievements with the group of donors.

In addition, Abode Vice President of Fundraising and Communications Alyssa Wieting thanked donors for their support. She also announced the launch of Abode’s new giving society - The Cornerstone Society - in which members pledge to donate $5000 or more annually for at least five years.

We thank our community of donors and supporters, as well as everyone who made Abode’s 2025 Donor Appreciation Night a success. Thank you for your continued support!
