Tarrah Henrie - New Abode Board President

We are excited to announce that Tarrah Henrie has been elected to serve as president of the Abode Board of Directors.

Henrie joined Abode’s board in Fall 2018 and held the post of Board Secretary since 2020.

Professionally, she serves as manager of water quality at California Water Service — a public utility company providing drinking water and wastewater services to a number of regions in California. In a distinguished career that spans more than 20 years, Henrie has managed teams of colleagues and led major projects. Her extensive professional experience includes water utility capital planning and project management.

She also has strong leadership experience, having led several grant-funded research and treatment projects for water systems that are economically disadvantaged. She has won multiple professional awards, including the California-Nevada American Water Works Association Chair’s Award for volunteer work on technical program development.

Henrie’s substantial leadership ability makes her a perfect fit to helm Abode’s board of directors, guiding the organization and helping it innovate to find solutions for the Bay Area’s housing and homelessness crisis.

During Henrie’s board tenure, Abode has continued to expand its scope and efforts. Founded in 1989 as a small agency, Abode now works in six counties. Since 2010, Abode has placed more than 16,300 individuals into permanent housing. It has become the Bay Area’s largest provider of housing and services for those experiencing homelessness.

“I strongly believe that everyone deserves a home,” Henrie said. “My volunteer work with Abode has been deeply satisfying because I am helping those with the most need in my community.”

Louis Chicoine, Abode’s longtime chief executive officer, congratulated Henrie for her election to the board presidency at a recent board meeting in Fremont.

“We are fortunate to have exemplary individuals such as Tarrah Henrie to lead our board of directors,” Chicoine said. “Tarrah’s professional expertise, strong leadership skills, and deep commitment to improving this community will greatly bolster our mission to end homelessness.”

Henrie, a Fremont resident, holds a Master's degree from UC Davis.
