Susanna Freiberger
Director of Human Resources
Susanna is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Human Resources Department for Abode. Her responsibilities include managing and improving processes within talent acquisition and retention, compliance, employee relations, benefits, performance management, professional development, new hire on-boarding and termination of employment, and HR systems across multiple functions and locations. Susanna also provides direction for the development of HR policies and procedures and makes recommendations on best practices to the senior management team. She crafts and implements a comprehensive recruitment and retention strategy with a focus on attracting and retaining talent for the hardest-to-fill positions. She consults with managers about employee-management topics with a keen understanding of agency programs, culture, and policies. She manages the overall performance-evaluation process for the agency, and develops, implements, and manages the comprehensive staff development plan in partnership with the vice president of human resources and director of training. She also oversees the agency’s annual Open Enrollment process, Abode’s intern and field placement program, and serves as agency liaison with insurance brokers. She ensures compliance with all federal, state, and city employment laws and regulations, and provides expert knowledge about Leave of Absence and Worker’s Compensation policies, keeping current on federal and state laws and regulations. She provides supervision, coaching, training, and performance management to HR staff personnel. An Abode employee since 2017, Susanna has nearly 25 years of experience working in administrative and human resources positions.
Susanna holds a Bachelor’s degree in anthropology from the University of California, Los Angeles; and a Master’s degree in anthropology from San Francisco State University.
