Abode Projects

Main Street Village

Abode Services and MidPen Housing partnered together to create Main Street Village, a 64-unit development on 1.57 acres. Main Street Village is conveniently located near a grocery store, public park, pharmacy and transit lines, and within walking distance of public schools. It is also adjacent to the planned Irvington District BART station in Fremont.

Main Street Village’s residents include families and individuals earning between 15 percent and 50 percent of the area median income. The housing site incorporates green building features, including bay friendly landscaping, a solar thermal hot water system, photovoltaic panels, energy-efficient electrical and plumbing fixtures, and on-demand hot water heaters in every unit.

Laguna Commons

Abode Services and MidPen Housing partnered to develop Laguna Commons, which provides supportive housing for military veterans, individuals, families and formerly homeless households. Laguna Commons, which sits on 1.5 acres in Fremont’s Irvington District, began construction in spring 2015 and welcomed residents in summer 2016. The housing site is near grocery stores, a public park, pharmacies and transit lines. Twenty-five of the development’s 64 units have been set aside for veterans.

Staff members are onsite to help all residents access a wide range of supportive services and programs. Services include case management, mental health care, health-and-wellness programs, job counseling and placement, financial literacy classes, and youth afterschool programs. These services promote self-sufficiency and assist residents in overcoming barriers that may interfere with their ability to maintain housing.

Mission Bell

Mission Bell Apartments features 25 renovated supportive housing units targeted for extremely low and very low income individuals and small families.

This Mission Style Building was built in the 1920’s and still exhibits a lot of charm.  The complex was re-opened in 2006 after renovations were completed by Allied Housing/Abode Services. Mission Bell Apartments was the first project funded by Alameda County through the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) and has a regulatory agreement to house six of the MHSA program participants.  These residents were homeless prior to entering housing at Mission Bell.  Abode Services provides onsite social services to all of the residents at Mission Bell.  Services are funded from both rental income and from Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services.

The project has an enclosed open air courtyard in the center of the project and garage parking for the residents.  There are 5 commercial tenants at street level, many of which have been there for more than a decade.
