Gina worked tirelessly to reach her goal of becoming a successful nurse, but she injured her hip during her last semester of school. After three surgeries – one successful, two not – she was deemed “permanently disabled.” This forced her to change her career plans and her dream of becoming a nurse was dashed. In 2023, she experienced homelessness for two years. In early 2025, she finally was able to move into a Sonoma County apartment, for which she is deeply grateful.  

“Finally, I had a safe place for me and my two dogs to call home,” Gina said. “I’m so grateful to be safe – and warm when I need to be, and cool when I need to be. Abode went to bat for me and I appreciate it.”
