What is the Coordinated Entry System?

Coordinated Entry is a countywide system used throughout California to connect individuals and families experiencing homelessness with housing and supportive services. Through a standardized assessment process, Coordinated Entry helps identify each household's needs and prioritizes available housing resources for those with the greatest vulnerability. This is the first step toward accessing housing programs, shelter, and other support services.

Participant Story Highlight

Nancy, Solano County

When Nancy left an abusive relationship, she was relieved as she was protecting her children and herself from a dangerous situation. However, she could not afford a place of her own and lived in a car for two years. One day, a friend put her in touch with Abode, which helped Nancy move into an apartment in Solano County, where she grew up. Having her own place has been a life-changing move that has provided her family stability and given her hope, Nancy said. It also brought her joy.

“That first morning in my own place, I couldn’t believe it – it felt incredible,” she said. “I’m just happy that my kids have a roof over their heads to stay. It really feels like our home.”

Abode Services

As of 2026, Abode Services serves as the primary Coordinated Entry access point in Solano County, helping connect individuals and families experiencing homelessness to housing and supportive services more efficiently. This expanded role allows Abode to engage directly with more people in need, conduct housing assessments, and ensure that those experiencing homelessness are connected to available resources and housing opportunities as quickly as possible. By serving as a key entry point into the county's homelessness response system, Abode is helping strengthen coordination, improve access to services, and create more pathways to housing stability throughout the community.
