What is the Coordinated Entry System?

Coordinated Entry is a countywide system used throughout California to connect individuals and families experiencing homelessness with housing and supportive services. Through a standardized assessment process, Coordinated Entry helps identify each household's needs and prioritizes available housing resources for those with the greatest vulnerability. This is the first step toward accessing housing programs, shelter, and other support services.

Participant Story Highlight

Geno, Santa Cruz County

For one six-month stretch, Geno experienced homelessness and slept in his truck in a parking lot, trying to dodge parking citations while worrying that any late-night noise might be someone trying to break into his truck. He says he is grateful that he now lives in a converted hotel managed by Abode in Santa Cruz County. Geno has lived there for about a decade and considers it home. He praises Abode for providing help when he desperately needed a home, especially given the challenges presented by soaring Bay Area housing prices.

“If it wasn’t for Abode, I would be homeless again,” he said. “I feel safe now. I can’t ask for a better spot, it’s been good for me.”

Resetar Hotel Apartments

Resetar Hotel Apartments is a historic permanent supportive housing community located in Watsonville, Santa Cruz County. The community offers 90 studio and one-bedroom units within a five-story multifamily property with a two-story addition. Housing is available to income-qualified households generally earning up to 50% Area Median Income (AMI). Developed in partnership with the California Department of Housing and Community Development CHRP Program and the Santa Cruz Housing Authority, the community is committed to providing stable housing while fostering resident success and neighborhood connection. Resident selection preferences may apply in accordance with program requirements.
